Happy New Year – Here’s to an Amazing 2024

It’s hard to believe that we are into the first week of 2024!  I for one can’t seem to figure out where 2023 went.  It feels like just yesterday that we were saying goodbye to 2022 and here we are doing the same thing for 2023.  Time flies when you are having fun I guess!

The start of 2024 is a bit different for me since it was in March of 2014 that Roth IAMS was founded.  As hard as it to believe how fast the last 12 months have gone by, it is even harder to think that I have been at it for a decade with Roth IAMS.  As the year progresses we will be rolling out a celebration of this milestone so I don’t want to steal our thunder just yet!

With so much going on in the world right now (and I am not going to wade into the issues any deeper), here’s to hoping that 2024 will be a year of healing and stability around the world.  I think the world, and each and everyone one of us deserve some calm and stability after the last four years!

I am excited to see how the world of facility and infrastructure asset management is going to continue to evolve this year.  I have been very encouraged by the increased focus that I am seeing across many organizations to the importance of consistent and defensible data as the foundation of any asset management program.  The stronger the foundation, the higher each organization can go towards solving their Deferred Capital Renewal and Maintenance (DCRM) Backlog.

Speaking of DCRM, here’s to saying goodbye to the term Deferred Maintenance (DM) and replacing it with DCRM or some other, more appropriate and accurate term.  I don’t need to revisit my tirade on why we need to abolish DM (there’s a blog post or two for that).  However, I am very encouraged that I am hearing more and more organizations using DCRM or other similar terms instead of DM.  I truly believe that this small detail will have an outsized impact on finally making a sustained dent in DCRM across all facility sectors.

To each of you individually, I hope that you had a chance to rest and recharge over the holidays.  Despite all the distractions and busyness I hope that you were able to reflect and are heading into 2024 with clear goals and objectives for the year.  Here’s to each of us having a successful 2024 both personally and professionally.

Although I hope 2024 doesn’t blow by as fast as 2023 did, given all the exciting things that I am looking forward to, I am thinking we will be back here to welcome 2025 before we know it.  No get out there and get after it!
