Today, more than ever, there is a growing need to make the built environment more accessible for people with disabilities, whether this is driven by legislation or organizational initiatives.

Before implementing accessibility improvements, it is crucial to have a comprehensive understanding of the various types of disabilities that may be present among facility occupants and users. Assessing the existing barriers in a facility is also a critical step in the process of making it more accessible.
