One of the best parts of my job is the chance to have amazing conversations with some of the smartest and most passionate people in the facility and asset management industry across North America. Every time I walk away from these discussions, I leave with new insights that make me a better practitioner and leader.
For a while now, I’ve been trying to figure out how to share that wisdom more broadly — beyond the people I meet at conferences or in client meetings.
I’ve also been an avid podcast listener for over 12 years. Whether it’s during workouts or on the long 20-hour drive between my home in Florida and Toronto, podcasts on leadership, sales, and personal growth have been my constant companion. They’ve challenged me, motivated me, and kept me sane on the road.
The idea of creating my own podcast was always in the back of my mind, but I wasn’t sure I could sustain it. Then it clicked: every facilities professional has a unique story worth sharing. Through my role, I have the privilege of hearing so many of these stories firsthand. Why not bring them to a wider audience?
That’s how Telling Your Asset Management Story (TYAMS) was born.
Working with my team, we designed a format that takes each guest through their personal journey, explores the challenges they and their organizations are facing today, and looks ahead at what the future of facility and asset management might hold. The goal is simple: to give you valuable insights from some of the best voices in our industry.
I’m excited to share that Season 1 — an eight-episode series — is officially live. Our first episode, featuring Freddie Cox, Chief Technology Officer for Knox County Schools, launches tomorrow (find us on your favorite podcast platform). New episodes will be released weekly for the next seven weeks. We have facility thought leaders from both the US and Canada with expertise in higher education, K-12, and healthcare asset management lined up for this season.
