Dr. Deborah Czubkowski is Vice President of Facilities Management at Broward College, where she helps look after 72 buildings and over three million square feet, from laboratories and classrooms to athletics, performing arts and healthcare simulation. She came to facilities through design and construction, and her doctoral research examined how facilities departments are organized across Florida’s state college system.
In this episode, Deb discusses funding pressure, growing deferred capital renewal needs, and the workforce and institutional-knowledge challenges facing facilities teams. She explains how in-house condition assessments, asset tagging, warranty information and predictive tools can move a department from reacting to failures toward better-informed decisions before they happen.
