Episode Highlights

About

Chip Phillips returns to continue the conversation from Episode 4. That first recording covered only one of the three major challenges facing Yale’s facility condition assessment program, so the microphones kept rolling. As Associate Director of the program, he picks up with what happens once the data has been collected.

In this second part, Chip explains how Yale prioritizes investment across historic, academic and research buildings with very different needs, weighing urgency, criticality and the consequences of failure, since every dollar of deferred need is not necessarily equal. He also outlines the process for keeping that data current, working toward a five-year reinspection cycle.
