Wilfrid Laurier University

Project Overview

As part of their Campus Capital Plan, Wilfrid Laurier University (Laurier) wanted to develop an Asset Management Plan (AMP) that addressed its buildings portfolio, consisting of 3.3 M sq.ft. across two campuses as well as the surface and subsurface infrastructure on both campus locations.

Scope and Objectives

The AMP included the development of Levels of Service associated with the overall condition of the buildings and infrastructure, implementation of Laurier’s Carbon Reduction Roadmap (designed to achieve its Greenhouse Gas Reduction targets), and enhancements of its current Preventive Maintenance Program.

Key Deliverables and Constraints

Although not regulated to develop an AMP, Roth IAMS and Laurier used the framework provided by O.Reg. 558/17 as the outline for the AMP. Building on the data collected as part of the Province-Wide Building Condition Assessment (BCA) program collected by Roth IAMS, our team collaborated with the Laurier Steering Committee to develop the first ever AMP for the University.

Conclusions

The AMP included the development of an infographic and a Program Evolution section that outlined commitments from Laurier on how it plans to enhance its AM Program prior to the next version of the AMP, including the development of Future Desired Levels of Service.
